Dear Family and Friends,
We are working in the Visalia sixth ward and we hope to be in that ward for six weeks, after that we will decide what to do next. We had an interesting experience, David had to cook food for the host so Gaile could get a picture of him. He looked very familiar to us. Can you guest the person this young man reminded us of?
The Elders found out that Gaile has her clippers here and were over Monday for a hair cut.
Some Days are Diamonds and Some Days are Stone. Here in Visalia that's not quite true. We can go from the most sparkling diamond of an experience to a dull rock in a hole in a matter of a minute or two. Having people invite us in is awesome. It is happening quite a bit for us. Then we talk to a member who now is very bitter. We have so much to give, but they push us away, afraid to let us in for fear of feeling the spirit. How can you convey to them that God still loves them dearly?
Rejoice in the good. One of the highlights was the two Hill Cumorah Cakes we took out this week. We went to members homes, told them that we had located the Hill Cumorah and needed a prophet who knew which rock the plates were buried under. We took a picture of the winner in each home.
We are now teaching lessons to an inactive lady and her nonmember husband who David had visited 35 years ago several times. She has many antiques. She has an amazing collection of dolls.
We were at a dinner appointment where the husband teaches sixth grade and the wife teaches fourth grade. We felt right at home. After we shared a spiritual message the wife said. I have a little girl in my class who is in our ward. This girl was doing her vocabulary sentences and she wrote a sentence that said, We were trying to be elegant when Elder and Sister Sheffer came to dinner. She received a smiley face for that sentence.
We love you all, Elder and Sister Sheffer
