High on a Mountain Top

1 Nephi 17:7

And it came to pass that after I, Nephi, had been in the land of Bountiful for the space of many days, the voice of the Lord came unto me, saying: Arise, and get thee into the mountain. And it came to pass that I arose and went up into the mountain, and cried unto the Lord.

Dear Family and Friends,

This week we were traveling and doing service.  We were working in the Exeter Ward in our stake. It covers Farmersville, Woodlake, Three Rivers, Lemon Cove, Lind Cove, Exeter, and a few other places that are somewhere out there. The ward includes the Sequoia National Park area. We have been visiting members up in the mountains.

We have had more than one close call. We find the address and started up the driveway thinking that we were there just to discover that their driveway is a half mile long dirt road full of switchbacks and ruts. Our little Corolla has been tested to the max. Some driveways are  paved because they would be way to steep to try otherwise. These people have golf carts or quads to go get their mail.

On one of the harder ones we decided to walk the last 20 yards. When they invited us in they had kimonos hanging on the walls everywhere. In their living room they had two terracotta warriors that were life-size copies of the real thing. Each soldier weighs over 600 pounds. She had visited the site and ordered the replicas shipped from China to San Francisco and then hauled up to her place.

We have been meeting new people. Most are wonderful. On one stop we were told, "I told those people that no one was to come here! We apologized and then I asked if Gaile could use her bathroom. We had a wonderful visit while Sister Sheffer was taking care of business that was way past due.  So, even the hard ones have been nice to us.

We Love you All,

Sister and Elder Sheffer

Psalms 78:54 And he brought them to the border of his sanctuary, even to this mountain, which his right hand had purchased.
