Priesthood Power

                                                                                                                February 25, 2012

Dear Family and Friends,

What to write about this week?

We started the week with church meetings galore. It is enjoyable to go and David is only falling asleep during the fifth or sixth hour of meetings.

Can you believe it? We are almost done with February.  We were invited by some of our investigators to go to Yosemite on our preparation day. It was a beautiful day and the drive was about two hours long there and back, so we were able to teach several lessons in that time. We took over 65 pictures. It was definitely a day to remember.

We have been working to help new converts with family history so they can go to the temple with a family name to do baptisms for the dead. It is such a blessing for them to go to the temple and feel of the spirit there and to serve their loved ones. We are excited to see and hear about their experiences.

We were able to teach a sweet 16 year old girl on Saturday and invite her to church. On Sunday evening we were at a tri stake youth fireside and to our amazement this young lady was singing in the 4th ward young women's choir. We had not even been able to check with the Elders of the ward to know if she had made it to church. We are so excited.

At the fireside Mission President Gelwix was speaking and a man in the second ward, a principal of a local high school, told us that the football coach at his school loved the movie "Forever Strong" and used clips from the movie to train his football players. So the principal invited the coach and he asked us to let the president know. We called to tell the president and asked if he would bring one of the movie posters signed for the family. The principal was very nervous and very grateful. We enjoyed watching it all.

One of our investigators who has come to church six weeks in a row said in high priest meeting today. "Elder Sheffer went to visit my nephew in the hospital after he had been shot eight times and gave him a blessing. My nephew will be going home in two days. We didn't think he would live. It is a miracle." We know that through the restored gospel of Jesus Christ the priesthood power has been restored and miracles do happen. Serving a mission is such a blessing and privilege.

We love you all  Elder and Sister Sheffer
