Conference and 50th anniversary

April 2, 2012

Dear Family and Friends,

It is amazing that another six weeks have gone by and it is transfer time again. As we visited investigators this week we were able to set up appointments with three of them to watch a session of conference, Saturday morning was Sandy Lynn Smith, Saturday afternoon was with Bill and Florine Burcham and their granddaughter Danielle Lewis.  It was wonderful to be with Bill and Florine that day because it was their 50th wedding anniversary. We have great pictures of them with crowns on.

On Sunday morning we watched the session with Joe and Angie Roque.  In each session there was a talk that seemed to be directed at each of the investigators.

In the Sunday afternoon session we met May a sweet lady who hadn't been home when we went with the Elders to visit her husband. May is from Oklahoma and her ancestors had escaped slavery in the South and were made slaves of the Indians. She said that they had walked the trail of tears with the Indians as their slave. When slavery was abolished, her ancestors were not freed because the Indian Nation wasn't part of the United States. They didn't receive their freedom until much later.

We were asked to help with a baptism of Vino. He is a sweet man who is learning and growing in so many ways.

We are checking up on many people and helping recent converts find family history names. Others we are helping to move to different wards. It has been difficult to find new investigators and transition to a new ward. It is humbling to seek each day to know the Lord's will. At times we wonder if we have done the things that were needed. I know we may never know, but it is nice to see at times that your efforts have made a difference. We have a loving Heavenly Father who gives us insight from time to time to encourage us.

We can see the orange blossoms starting to open on the trees. We are excited to experience the real thing not just the Disneyland, Soring Over California version. Things in the Lord's vineyard are going well.  We wish you all a very happy and peaceful Easter. We are so blest to have the gospel in our lives. Being able to listen to conference again on the internet is such a blessing!

God Bless You,   Elder and Sister Sheffer

The last picture is going on our dinner calendar Elder Sheffer had the great idea of having a picture on the folder cover.
